COMPUTER GROUP

Aim

Programme

Finding us

Our meetings are aimed at encouraging both members and non members to use computers for their own Family History - they are open to all - and beginners are welcome.

The main topic for the evening starts at 8 p.m. but we are there from 7 p.m. for general chat, helping to solve individual problems or demonstrating techniques such as data transfer or programs of interest to minorities.

If you are a beginner and need advice or don't know where to start - don't be too shy to ask - we all had to start somewhere - and like genealogy its a continuous learning process.

If you would like some help of this kind, or a specific demo, please contact the group organizer - Chris Willis - well beforehand to ensure the appropriate software will be available.

Unless otherwise stated - meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each month at St.Mary's Church, Ash Vale Road, Ash Vale.   (see foot of this page for how to finding us ).

As the main topic starts promptly at 20:00 - please allow time to park - book in - have a chat and to be seated.

2007 PROGRAMME

NO COMPUTER GROUP MEETINGS ARE
CURRENTLY PLANNED FOR 2007

Jeanne Bunting and Chris Willis have stepped down having organized the Computer Group since 1991. They will me sorely missed by the many members have have gained knowledge over the ensuing years. Unfortunatly nobody has so far been willing to take over so meetings have been suspended.
If you are one of those who have gained from these meetings and would like to put something back - then step forward - your efforts will be appreciated. You don't need to be a computer expert - just have the confidence to demonstrate particular family history programs to people who have not seen them before - and to co-ordinate demonstrations by others.

From the south

travelling north - leave the A331 at North Camp .

At roundabout take 1st exit crossing bridge back over the A331.

At next roundabout take 3rd exit -

(North and South routes merge at this point)
crossing over railway bridge - taking the last exit from the next two mini roundabouts (about half a mile apart) on to the B3411 (formerly A321) .

Pass immediately under the railway viaduct at Ash Vale Station and continue south on the B3411 for about half a mile. St.Mary's Church will then be found on the right.

Lookout for a bus shelter on the left hand side - and take the right hand turning into Wood Street - immediately past the keep left bollards before and opposite side to the bus shelter.

St. Mary's Church entrance is immediately on the right - and we meet in the low annex to the left of the car park entrance from Wood Street.

NOTE: St.Mary's Church is visible from Ash Vale Road - but not until you are immediately opposite.  The Church is brick built with a large white cross on the wall.  Location is at 489270E 152500N (N51:15:53 W0:43:19)
