NOTEDo not expect or worry about exact spellings - particularly before the early 1900's. Compulsory education didn't start until after the Education Act of 1870 (aka "Forster Act") - consequently illiteracy was wide spread until well after then - often resulting in name spellings being a phonetic interpretation by whoever wrote the record - maybe hampered by strong local dialects. Consequently you may find BMD records for a given ancester - each having different spellings. When alternative spellings are known to have occured they are grouped together - and link to the same page.
